The first day of the rest of his life
All he took with him...a Bible and a toothbrush. And I think they'll issue him another toothbrush.
They gave us a list of what he'll be generally doing in boot camp: exotic things such as Pugil Sticks & NIghttime Rappeling, ominous things such as Innoculations III & Gas Chamber, stuff you'd rather not know about: Chokes & Bayonet Techniques, and even a few things to look forward to: after 11 weeks, Four Hours of "Recruit Liberty", and of course, Graduation.

Workspace
I'm working on a series of pieces for school that has kept me up late and gotten me up early. This photo was from 6 am Saturday. You might recognize the photos that these pieces were based upon if you've read my blog awhile. Each piece is created by taping off sections, cutting the tape with an xacto knife, painting the section, then peeling off the tape and moving on to the next section. It's maddening. Each of the three 8x10 pieces has between 10-15 hours of work in it. I finished this one, the third, Saturday night. I still have two large projects due Tuesday, so I can't even sit back and feel satisfied. Also I have a killer cold/headache/scratchy throat which started Friday afternoon. And of course, Grayson leaves this morning for Parris Island. Not my most fun weekend ever, by any stretch of the imagination.

Apologies
I misplaced my cable to download pics....and just found it a minute ago. I'll get caught up this weekend! Sorry.

Guest Photographer: my dad
Dad took this photo and gave me the following info about it: The star cactus bloom is about 8-10 inches from tip to tip. It starts to open in late morning and takes about 15 to 20 minutes to fully open. The twisted tip behind the fully opened flower will probably open later today. Beautiful flower but it has a terrible odor!
How much wood would...
