I agree with Dalissa - I was raised in SW Virginia, but I have many, many family members who make me feel like I'm further down South than that. Kakkalacky? I've been accused of being a bit dense, so I apologize in advance if this is a crazy question: is that a real place name?

No, South Kakkalacky is a pejorative, but somehow affectionate, term we natives use for our state. South Carolina to the rest of you. :-)
I grew up hearing South Kakkalacky. Friends of ours in Augusta, GA, who complain about SC drivers, call it Suckalina. :P
You can find houses 'round these parts that look a lot like that one - except the college flag would be UF, FSU or UGA and/or Jaguars.
Your "quote" under the photo sums it up nicely. Take away the Clemson flag and you'll see plenty of this in the rural Northwest, btw.
Suckalina, huh? That's funny. I think SC drivers are horrible, but I thought it was just me....they drive slow in the left lane.
Where I live up near the mountains is economically vibrant and a really incredible place to live; and of course the coast has some lovely spots. But elsewhere there is quite a lot of rural poverty and red dirt, places where as my dh would say, "The only good thing that can be said for that place is that iit's part of what's holding the earth together."
But hey. I love it and wouldn't live elsewhere. :-) And Clemson does have a pretty good team... (gotta get rid of Bowden, thouh). Basketball's great though this year.
I like the hue of this photo. Is it enhanced or is this how it turned out? It almost glows.
Good composition. I had to look twice to see the rocking horse. Love it.
That picture flag and all, could have been taken here in my neck of the woods too. Louisville proper is too PC to fly the flags in their yards, but just a couple miles outside the city and you will see them all over the place.
