Welcome to South Kakkalacky

A new house is being built near us, and so thought I'd feature on my blog one of the features of where I live...red dirt. We all plaster grass sod on our lawns and sprinkle and fertilize them, so that the red dirt doesn't show...but it is there! All it takes is a little scrape of the earth to reveal it.

Wow! Quite a pile dirt. And it *is* red. So is it not very good soil?

Also, I like the one of Bill from yesterday! Just got a chance to get on and look at blogs. Good use of the mirror.

One of the things I remember about visiting my aunt on the FL panhandle was the red clay. It got on and in everything! She had given up trying to get the red stains out of our play clothes :)

Yes, I well remember the red clay/soil. It's so cool to see it lining the streets. I'll never forget "Mars." :)

Good shot - nice balance. I like the way you framed the heaps.

Like Sandie's visit to Florida, the ten years when I lived in Alabama put me in situations where I saw LOTS of red clay. Can't say that I miss it much....

Nice dirt. So, have you considered digging up some of the "soil" for a ceramic project?

I like the layers of red and rock. That red dirt can cause damage to clothes!
