Weeping Mary BAPTIST church?
Taht is just too amazing. What's she crying about? Does she miss the Catholics? I tell ya what - SC is amazing! So many photo ops.
I can understand the cementary picture, and the peach water tower, but the red camel(?) and the Weeping Mary Baptist Church are things I never would have dreamed up :) I love seeing your part of the country!
Yeah, I thought Weeping Mary BAPTIST was pretty funny too. The red camel is in someone's driveway. It's life size. It makes no sense. Cracks me up. I could have, if I had taken the time, taken a hundred pictures just as descriptive as these. I'm tellin' ya....it's a veritable wonderland of photo ops. :-)

I love the cemetary. It reminds me of one I took photos of in Texas, but that one was covered in bluebonnets.
So...does SC really have more 'interesting' things or do you just have the eyes to see them?
Paula, I don't know. My friend and I were driving through the countryside yesterday and both commented that we thought you could go down any country-ish road in SC and find something interesting, or quintessential, or humorous, or photo-worthy. So maybe it's the place...maybe the photo project helps me slow down to record the uniqueness of the place. Or is it unique? I dunno. It may be that you could find this stuff anywhere....
PS Paula, what struck me about the cemetery is that someone is still decorating a Confederate grave... I don't know if it is for Confederate Memorial Day (yep, it's a holiday...May 10 in SC), or if it's a death anniversary, or what....but to think that on these OLD graves (I'm assuming a Confederate veteran) there are still folks tending them.

I was scrolling through blogs and came across your great pictures. I went to school in Charlotte, NC and spent lots of time in SC . . . My name is on the base of that peach. We used to drive out there when we needed a break from the real world.
