Ice Cream Maker extraordinaire...among other roles

In honor of Father's Day, I give you my dad. At 82, he's more bent over than he was, but he's still a giant. He's patient, humble, kind, generous, wise, fun-loving, good, honest, gentle, and encouraging. Maybe he has, but I can't recall him saying anything bad about anyone. I can count on one hand the times I've seen him angry, though I've seen him cry on several occasions. As a teenager, he fought in the Normandy invasion and other battles during WWII, and evacuated Dachau after the war. He fathered three children (and endured the sorrow of having his son predecease him), and was a devoted only child to his own parents. He's been successful in business, is respected at church and in the community, has been married to mom for 60 years, and is a friend to widows and anyone who needs a hand. He's a great father.

How I love your precious Daddy and loved seeing him at my parents' 50th wedding anniversary party Saturday night!! He was wearing the shoes that Moses, I believe, got for him at "the cool outdoor store" and he was so proud of them! He is truely a giant in every sense of the word!! You are so blessed to have him in your life......

Hey SweetTea! I knew I'd eventually get you to come out of hiding! :-) Now if we can just get you a blog of your own set up, so you can amuse us all with your sense of humor! Glad you've got the 50th behind you...mom told me it was lovely.

(SweetTea is such a nicer identity than some of the other nicknames you've had.... (evil grin).)

What a wonderful testimony to who your dad has been in your life! I imagine that he has shaped so much of who you are as a result. Really awesome.

He does stand tall. In my book your father is a great hero, the type of man with traits and characteristics I'd like to emanate. Did I spell that correct? Emanate? Anyhow, what a great Father's Day post.
