I love this picture!! The b&w makes it look so timeless. They both are happy and it comes though the screen.
This is a good one to render in black and white; like Sandie said, it lends a timeless quality to the picture. Both man and dog look fully appreciative of one another.
There it is - that white white against the black black. I like the composition (g). I like the way your dad is reaching down to the down at an angle. Persian rug adds pattern design. Excellent shot.
