Edited to add: Since y'all have been so encouraging, here's the other side of the screen with my other paintings.
Tonight I displayed my paintings for the first time at a neighborhood art show. My friend Judy joined me, and the "Peace" work is hers: she worked on it earlier in the spring at the beach. Anyway, it was a nice affair, and I met an art broker who gave me some great encouragement and constructive criticism, and invited me to stay in communication with her.

Yes, your first art show. I'm so excited for you. My eye was drawn to the painting of the man in the brown jacket. Perhaps because I like brown? But I think it is his expression most. Also, Judy's painting of Peace... remarkable. I would buy it in a New York minute. Kudos to both of you. From one artist to another - I think it's great!!!
Thanks! The blue house was done on location (in the middle of a slow street!) The man in brown is my son upon his high school graduation...you know, at the point where he knows everything and he is king of all he sees! :-) I agree about Judy's Peace...she had quite a few that I liked. Her style is what I love, and I'd like to incorporate more of a carefree style (colors? subject matter? media? technique?) into my own art. My work is student work, and I'll admit it; what cracked me up was to see (some) folks at a neighborhood art show pricing their stuff like it wasn't student art, when one glance told you it was! :P My problem is needing to spend more TIME at art, both time for inspiration and time for execution.

That is exciting. I like them all as a collection, they show a lot about your style. I really like the church bell tower and the garden with the statue.
WOOHOO Beth! How exciting.:-) I think I saw the "hands" portion of your son's painting, long ago. It was fun to see some of your other artwork. You have quite a variety. All good but like Sandy, my eyes immediately went to the blue house. Homes tend to draw me that way.

P.S. I looked at them again and was also drawn to the church overlooking the bay. Where is this church? Such a peaceful place and I love the combo of the church, the hilltop views, the water and it seems you were on a higher hill painting. I like the perspective.

Congratulations!! I love seeing those hanging there! It's fun to see them all together. That one of the blue house is one of my favorites... Are you able to sell any? I'd think it would be hard. I know my young friend, Laura, is having a hard time parting with her paintings.
I had a few of them for sale, but at student prices. I didn't expect to sell any, and I didn't. My purpose really was to scope out (in a friendly venue) what would be needed if I wanted to delve more into painting....and in that sense, the evening was very instructive.
That's a big step! It's cool to gather your work all together and display it, isn't it?

This is so incredible!! I love the presentation of the paintings. I've been so preoccupied with day to day I forgot to check in here on Sat. I'm ashamed!
