1st two assignments

I'm realizing it has been a LONG time since I was in school (25 years to be exact)! I've been swamped with projects, but I guess that's just the nature of a visual arts program. Anyway, I'm not happy with either of these really. The execution isn't the greatest, even though I met the rubrics of the project (at least I hope I did!) But there is a sense of satisfation at being able to put those to bed. Of course, only to learn of next week's assignment tomorrow. And so it goes. Yessiree, it's back to school around here!

And I'll try to take more pictures tomorrow!

I love the chessboard one -- very cool!

I'm thinking about going back to school -- when the kids get a bit older. Five years or so....

The chessboard assignment was to take a common object, and draw it in every media -- ink, charcoal, conte crayon, graphite, colored pencil -- and in every technique (for example, scribbling, crosshatching, stippling, etc.).

I think these first two assignments are designed to make us quit the class if we don't really, really want to be in there! :-)

Ha!! My old business law prof would rant, rave, yell, scream and pound his fists until the class shrunk down to the size he wanted it. After that was the most amazing prof, ever!

I like your other project, too. It reminds me of a seismographic read out.

Oh Beth!! This is how I know I'm a theologian and not an artist. I can't even conceive of the vision required to produce these. Great job!! (And explains your sparse presence on the Internet lately...)

I really like the chess one too (perhaps it's the fact that the pieces are so big!).

I also think the progression in the other one is amazing (and wow with the exacto knife.... good grief - hope the next project uses a machete. :))
