Like mother. Like daughter.

We met dd today for lunch, as we drove through Charlotte on our return from Duke. I snapped this one, and just loved her expression here. Rarely does C show vulnerability and tenderness....she's more the strong, loud, funny, larger-than-life type. Seeing her tucked under her dad's arm, looking sweet and tender, made me happy. I'm happy as I think about our relationship with her; she was the most difficult child EVER. I swear. (I had professional counselors concur on this!) To see her today, very much her own person, happy, enjoying college, loving and at peace with both her parents...it's enough to make a parent feel fulfilled.

It's amazing to me how being on their own can somehow allow a vulnerability to show. Maybe not that so much as...hmmm...what? More at ease with who they are, so less of a need for armor? Something. I like what I've seen in mine (and between us) as they've gone off to college.

Love the sunlight in the is picture. It's a keeper!

She is so cute and I see her resemblance to you! I love the way she is tucked under Dad's arm. Precious!

I heard once, from a difficult child looking back on her childhood, that "some kids make better(as in easier) kids than adults and some kids make better adults than kids." I've seen this borne out many a time.

What a lovely haircut and color! She looks really beauitful in this photo. And Bill looks so natural with her. I love hearing how well she's doing. It makes my insides joyful!

So nice for you to be at this peaceful place with her.

C. looks great! It always makes me happy to hear how your relationship is easier now and what a fine woman she is becoming. You give me hope!

I only now got to see your photos from yesterday because my old laptop just can't handle loading more than one photo. My favorite is the one with the three circles. I like the contrast.

Oh, Beth, what a joy it is to hear the smile in your voice as you talk about C. After so much struggle, so much darkness, to burst out into the light and embrace each other in love. Wonderful!
